This was my second ryokan and, even if it was not as luxurious as the previous one I stayed in, I think the overall experience was better. It is fairly well located (Kanazawa is a small town so anywhere is pretty much fine, transportation can be confusing as there is few signaling in english even in google maps and japantravel). The personnel was serious but friendly and spoke fairly understandable English. The room was spacious and had private bathrooms (rare in ryokans) and even if you used the public bath you could enter with tattoos (which was a concern for me). I highly recommend having dinner in your room, breakfast was ok but I liked dinner much better. The hotel is quiet and cozy.

A simple and well maintained ryokan. Room was simple. Staff was helpful despite being limited in English. Meals (Breakfast and dinner) were enjoyable. On the first night, we were served by a girl who appears to be a university student and probably was on the job recently. Not familiar with the layout of the food to be served and also the setting of the futon bed. Appreciate her willingness and courage to explain in English. Hotel was not full when we were there. Had use of the common bath entirely to ourselves. Location is in the centre of the three tourist places - the old town, the Kanazawa palace/ Kurokuen Garden and the market.

Comfortable ryokan not far from kenroku-en gardens by foot. The food served in our room for dinner was really nice, with a great selection of dishes including local specialities. For breakfast, we could choose between Western or Japanese style, and they also served good coffee. We stayed there for two nights, and the food served was different on both days, primarily a selection of fresh ingredients. There was fresh tea in our room and it was replenished twice a day. Staff was very nice. It’s a short taxi or bus ride from the train stations.

Authentic Ryokan with a traditional room with Futons etc. We deliberately chose a room without bathroom facilities so that we HAD TO enjoy the full Japanese Ryokan experience with ONSEN! Rooms are basic but comfortable. Futons excellent and the food......superb! We had the Japanese Breakfast and Dinner and enjoyed every mouthful. The young staff were great to deal with and attentive as was the owner. Very quiet neighbourhood with easy walking access to all the town has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed the cultural experience.

Nakayasu Ryokan is a charming, homey feeling place to stay in an excellent location in Kanazawa. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to accommodate our 1-year old daughter. The room was spacious and clean and we were very comfortable on the traditional futons. The onsen is small and simple but all you need and I had it to myself most nights - the perfect way to end the day. The traditional Japanese breakfast each morning was delicious. Great value for money.
